Xarelto Use Linked to Severe Internal Bleeding
Xarelto is a prescription blood thinner that has been linked to severe internal bleeding in some users, sometimes resulting in death. Xarelto is used to prevent stroke due to blood clots and given to patients with atrial fibrillation as well as persons recovering from hip and knee replacement surgeries. We are investigating cases in which internal bleeding resulting in hospitalization or death occurred. It is our belief that Janssen Pharmaceuticals, the drug's maker, did not properly warn users of this life-threatening risk.
The market for blood thinners is more than $10 billion per year in the US alone, giving pharmaceutical companies great incentive to produce a drug that can gain significant market share. In 2013, the FDA issued a Warning Letter to Janssen Pharmaceuticals for Xarelto, stating that the company was using "false and misleading" marketing which "minimizes the risks associated with Xarelto."
At The Onder Law Firm, we believe that Xarelto's maker should be held accountable for misleading users and not be allowed to profit from these actions. By placing its own profits before the safety of Xarelto's users, Janssen Pharmaceuticals exposed countless individuals to serious health risks, including loss of life. For thousands of families, the consequences were incredibly severe, with far too many losing a loved one.
