Onder, Shelton, O'Leary & Peterson Partner Named Co-Liaison Counsel in Pradaxa Products Liability Lawsuit

The judge in the Pradaxa Products Liability Litigation (United States District Court, Southern District of Illinois, MDL no. 2385) issued the order appointing plaintiff's leadership positions on September 27, 2012. Among those appointed to leadership roles in the Pradaxa lawsuit was Mark Niemeyer, a partner at the law firm of Onder, Shelton, O'Leary & Peterson in St. Louis, MO. The Co-Lead and Co-Liaison Counsel serve as Counsel of Record in the lawsuit and perform a variety of additional duties. It has been alleged that the maker of Pradaxa did not adequately informa users of the risk of and danger from internal bleeding after using the drug. The Pradaxa prescription label already warns patients of the risk of Pradaxa internal bleeding and Pradaxa gastrointestinal bleeding, but a December 2011 FDA Safety Communication says that post-market reports indicate that “serious or even fatal” bleeding problems may be more common than the agency had anticipated.
